Alexa & Katie is an American sitcom series on Netflix. The show premiered on March 23, 2018. The show is the baby of Heather Wordham. It garnered a rating of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.4 on IMDb. That is a lot of love to gather in the course of just two years. Simran Shay, a viewer, wrote on Googe Reviews, “This show made me realize that a friend is not only the one who makes you feel special, but also a crutch who is always there for you in your predicaments.”
It is a show about two childhood best friends, Alexa and Katie, duh!
They are waiting for the start of their freshman year of high school. However, their plans get a little faltered when Alexa finds out that she has cancer. We see a lot of coverage about cancer treatment. To support Alexa, Katie also shaves her head and hence, embark on a journey of high school while facing the chronic illness that seems to come in their way every now and then.
What is Netflix’s verdict about the future of Alexa & Katie?
Alexa & Katie concluded its last episode on June 13, 2020. The title was pretty ironic as well, ‘This Feels Right‘. This feels right can be interpreted as the ending for the show’s characters, but also, as an ending to the show itself. Paris Berelc told seventeen, “Alexa & Katie was not only fun, it was a project I had a really long time letting go. I will never forget it and I am so grateful to have been your Alexa.”
Isabel May also said goodbye saying, “I am so proud of this last season and forever grateful that I was lucky enough to help tell Alexa and Katie’s story.”
Thus, Netflix canceled the show after three seasons.
Who played who in the show?
The cast had an amazing way of seeping into the hearts and staying there. Hence, the favoritism of the audience pertains to a great degree to the talented cast. Paris Berelc played the role of Alexa, Isabel May the role of Katie, Jolie Jenkins that of Jennifer, and Emery Kelly as Lucas. Eddie Shin played the role of Dave in the show, and we cannot miss Finn Carr as a loving brother, Jack. Tiffani Theissen also was a huge part in the show. She played the role of Lori.
The reason for the cancellation of Alexa & Katie
Showrunner Brian Yorkrey told Entertainment Weekly, “It felt like bringing these characters to their graduation and to scattering to their next things felt like the logical ending point.”
So, if you watched the last part of the show, you know that Alexa and Katie had a lot of their plate. They went through the last year of their high school. What awaits them in the future is college. However, they did not get selected at the same college, hence they won’t have any continuation. But, we are so proud of the girls and the fact that they are venturing out into the world to create the life they have always wanted.
