The production of the series comes under DreamWorks Animation Television and the animation is the work of Studio Mir. In June 2019, an announcement regarding the anime in Annecy International Animated Film Festival came out. Consequently, the fans of the webcomic were instantly happy. The anime takes place in a future where giant, mutant animals which are called ‘mutes’ have taken over Earth and the humanity submits. The humans are take shelter underground and communities come up known ‘burrows’. Then, Karen Fukuhara’s Kipo’s introduction occurs. It comes to our knowledge that Kipo is fascinated by the world of the mutes. The whole anime revolves around the fact of finding if there are ways for humans and animals to coexist.
The first two seasons kept its focus on a tyrannous monkey who wants to enslave humanity. Dan Stevens plays the monkey and also, the second season introduces another villain in the form of Dr. Emilia. Amy Landecker plays an evil doctor who wants to reverse the mutant gene so that all the animals are back in their original form.
