TikTok was the world’s most downloaded non-gaming software with more than 63.3 million downloads for August 2020, reflecting a rise of 1.6 percent from August 2019. During this time, Indonesia with 11 percent of its overall downloads and Brazil with 9 percent were the countries with the most installs of the app. The top 10 full update list of non-gaming software worldwide for August 2020 is above. The figures for installing the software come from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence tool.

ZOOM was the second most-installed non-gaming app with over 52.2 million installs worldwide last month, 22.2 times its downloads from August 2019. India was the country with the highest number of ZOOM installations at 25 percent, led by the US at 19.5 percent. Yahoo, Instagram, and WhatsApp rounded out the top five non-gaming applications enabled worldwide for the month.

A big chunk of TikTok downloads used to be coming from India with the US before the ban. Despite being suspended in India following the Indo-China border conflict in July, TikTok is holding up the brilliant success in other markets to stay at the top of the world’s most downloaded non-gaming list.

The ranking is specifically for nongaming-related software, but titles for video games are not ranked. On top of it, despite the initial boom time coming to an end, Zoom is already doing incredibly well in the Apple App Store with over 52.2 million downloads coming in on the second.

The Android program fell to its 5th place. Other recognized names such as Twitter, WhatsApp, and Instagram also feature on the list. And these social media outlets can be found in different places on various networks.

In addition to historical success measurements on the Sensor Tower site, users of the Store Intelligence will also see projections of the data usage for the above applications. Our predictions include worldwide updates between 1 August 2019 and 31 August 2020 to the App Store and to Google Play. Software from Apple and software Google has pre-installed are removed. We just record specific installations. Third-party retailers are not included in figures on Ios. Figures are aggregates of all iterations of the application, e.g. Facebook and  Facebook Lite.
