Fixing Of A Problematic Character
The promo of season 5 promises to do justice to Jessica, a problematic character. The series is known for looking down upon its female characters.for instance, Beth’s mom is never seen onscreen. However, a sneak peek from the fifth season shows that Jessica is about to get some importance on the show. Jessica is mostly a two-dimensional character. She is only used to crack up humiliating jokes on Morty. However, Morty’s crush is always the base of these jokes. Since there are only a few characters in the show, there is often a sexist undertone to it. However, now it seems like Jessica is going to play an important role in this season. The makers are finally trying to make things right.
