The showrunner of Riverdale, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that the show is under pre-production. Filming is all set to begin in September 2020. Meanwhile, the cast is back in Vancouver. Previously it was announced that season 4 will be the concluding season. But now Marisol Nichols has announced that the show is up for a brand new season 5.
There is no official date yet. But it has been stated that the show will return in January 2021. In August it was confirmed that the shooting will start in September 2020. Pandemic led to shutting down in production. Lili Reinhart on an interview with Jimmy Fallon confirmed that the cast will be quarantined for a fortnight. The show will air on CW on Wednesday. Only then it will be released on Netflix for the international audience.

Later Lili Reinhart confirmed that there will be a time jump of 7 years.
