Thomas Benski in August 2020 spoke at the virtual Edinburgh TV Festival and made the announcement and details of Gangs Of London Season 2. This means that fans will be seeing more the cast. There is more to come and fans are now anxious. Gareth Evans along with Matt Flannery co-created the show. The show features a top-notch cast. Also, Sky’s blockbuster series depicts the tension between various gangs. As the name suggests, the show is all about gangs and the gangland drama.
Consequently, the series is famous for its fight sequences that give the audience chill. Such sequences were last seen in Gareth Evans’s The Raid movies. The second season is already in works and Thomas Benski, the executive producer of the show is out there giving good news:
“The timing of the show in a way has not been hugely affected by COVID, because we obviously launched during the lockdown and we are now in development,” he said. “So assuming the world doesn’t end next year we should be good.”
What Has The Showrunners Got In Mind For “Gangs Of London Season 2”?
It was 24th June 2020, that Sky gave the confirmation. The officials gave the fans some relief when they told that the series was going through a renewal. The show will be airing with the US broadcaster AMC. AMC will air both the season simultaneously. When the show came out, the show’s 7 day-broadcast was the biggest ever. Achieving a cumulative viewership of around 2.23 million viewers, it’s achievement was bigger even than Chernobyl and Save Me.
Hence, it is a very profitable decision for the show makers to renew the series. Also, the cast is not yet confirmed. We don’t know if Joe Cole will be returning as Sean Wallace. But, we can expect the return of these characters:
Sope Dirisu playing Elliot Carter/Finch, Michelle Fairley playing Marian Wallace, and many others.
What About A Release Date For The Second Season?
The Gangs of London Season 2 won’t see a release before 2022. But, this fact also highly depends on the coronavirus situation. It will be very hard shooting in these situations. For the welfare of the cast, it is the right time to go for the release of the series. Due to the coronavirus pandemic situation, the filmmakers are suffering a lot as many series and movies production is at a halt. Hence, we can expect the series to return when the world emerges from the pandemic.
