With a new record of fresh 83,883 COVID-19 cases, India has now become the second most COVID-19 affected nation with a total of 38 lakh cases. With this new record India has left behind Brazil (1.5 lakh cases) the data was shown by Health Ministry data. Plus, in the last 24 hours, the most numbers of tests were done i.e. 11,72,179 samples were tested making the total number of tests past 4.55 crore. An additional 1,043 deaths linked to the highly contagious disease have pushed the total number of fatalities to 67,376.
Talking about the recovery then over 29 lakh has recovered from the infection in the country so far. After all this too, Maharashtra remains on the first position in the list of states that are hit hard by the pandemic. Maharashtra is followed up by other three southern states – Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

MAHARASHTRA:
The state has seen the rise of 17,443 new cases which is the highest single-day count so far. This spike has made the total number of cases 8,25,739. The state also reported 292 new deaths. Among them 34 were from the state’s capital Mumbai, pushing up the fatality count to 25,195.

ANDHRA PRADESH:
The state is in the second position in the list. It has maintained a steady streak for another day, with 10,392 fresh corona virus cases, pushing the state’s total case to 4,55,531.

TAMIL NADU:
The third one on the list and has saw 5,990 new corona virus cases. With this, the total tally of the state has reached 4,39,959. It has also reported 98 fatalities taking the number of deaths to 7,516. 75,829 samples were tested and 49,64,141 specimens have been tested till date as per the health department bulletin.

KARNATAKA:
On Wednesday the state reported its biggest single-day spike of over 9,800 new corona virus cases and 113 deaths. This sudden rise took the state’s tally to 3,61,141 and the number of deaths to 5,950 as per the health department. The state also tested a record 73,317 samples, including 38,735 using the rapid antigen kits, as the cumulative specimen examined crossed the 30 lakh mark.

DELHI:
The number of active cases in the capital has increased by around 50 per cent in a month. The city is witnessing a marked uptick in new cases, according to government data. The number of active cases has increased to over 15,000 according to an analysis of the Delhi government’s health bulletin.

TRIPURA:
The northeast state has recorded its highest single-day spike with 566 cases. This is the third consecutive day of the highest spike in Tripura. The state has reported 125 deaths. Tripura has the highest mortality rate and the lowest recovery rate in the northeast.
The Union Health Ministry pointed out that India has been reporting “one of the lowest COVID-19 fatality rates in the world” with figure further declining to 1.76 per cent against the global average of 3.3 per cent. The Ministry quoted “While the global average is 110 deaths per million populations, India is reporting 48 deaths per million populations. The comparative figure for Brazil and the UK is 12 and 13 times higher respectively.
