After the block of an anti-Muslim Danish from being a part of a Quran Burning Rally, violence broke out. On Saturday reported at least 10 people were arrested and several policemen were injured. The outbreak happened in Southern Sweden on a Friday night. Local Media also reported that the protesters pelted police with stones and burned tires. .
What Actually Happened In Sweden?
Rickard Lundqvist, a police spokesperson, stated that the demonstrations were related to an earlier incident. Around 300 people who were a part of the demonstration were also a part of the rally. This rally came into the streets earlier the same day. The sole purpose of the rally was to Islamic Holy Book ‘Quran’. Another police spokesperson also quoted that all those we’re arrested are now released.
Though the protest and demonstration subsided. An imam on that day stated that these demonstrations were done by non-Muslims.
The local residents criticized the demonstration and violence. They also hold a unanimous opinion that the root cause of this is the burning of the Quran
How Rasmus Paludan Enraged The Violence?
Rasmus Paludan was supposed to address an event in Malmo that same Friday. It was the day of Muslim prayers. Rasmus Paludan is the reader of the far-right Danish anti-immigration party Hardline. But authority banned Mr. Paludan banned for 2 years from entering Sweden. Later, Ramsus got arrested near Malmo. Malmo is the region where the demonstrations and violent protests took place.
Police spokesperson in Malmo made a statement to AFP stating,
“We suspect that he was going to break the law in Sweden”.
He also added that his behavior was under absolute suspicion. As it could have been a reason for threat. the peace of the Swedish people. But the supporters of Rasmus Paludan did not stop. The decision to continue the rally. Police detained certain people on the pretext of spreading racial hatred.
A Muslim resident of Malmo reported the local news channel what terrifying hours were those. He also stated, that there could have been a better way but people chose violence. Though there are no reported deaths or any such major tragedy.
Later, Ramsus uploaded a status on Facebook, which said,
“Sent back and banned from Sweden for two years. However, rapists and murderers are always welcome!”
Recalling, the blasphemous move of Ramsus last year. He burnt the pages of Korna and spat on it.
