My Brilliant Friend Season 3, is based on the Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante. The two seasons did amazingly well, so it was a matter of time when HBO renewed the series for a third season. The first season of coming-of-age drama premiered on November 18, 2018, on HBO, and the second season premiered on March 16, 2020. It also aired in Italian cinemas and Radio Television Italiana. Each season was an adaptation of a new book.
The season had an 8.6 rating on IMDb, and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show is an easy-going show with everything flowing into existence. A fan on google Reviews wrote, “There was not a minute when I looked at the clock thinking about other things. The show holds your attention and keeps you in the moment.” The acting by the actors in the show is praise-worthy. This is why HBO was not reluctant to renew the show for a third season.
When will My Brilliant Friend Season 3 premiere?
On April 30, 2020, HBO commissioned My Brilliant Friend Season 3. It will be based on the third novel in the series, ‘Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay.’ HBO executive Francesca Orsi was elated to declare the news. She said, “The fact that the viewers and critics alike have continued to embrace Elena and Lila’s story makes it all the more gratifying. We cannot wait to tell the next chapter of Elena and Lila’s lives and friendship.”
The filming has not yet begun due to the COVID-19 delays. Hence, we expect the show to air in 2021 if they start shooting by this year’s end.
The plot
The makers have not revealed anything about the plot. So, considering the novel which will serve as an inspiration for the season, we expect to see grown-up Elena and Lila in My Brilliant Friend Season 3. Both the girls will get married and they will face love and strife in a changing world. We also expect to see a feminist take when Elena will fight for women’s voices. Lila also sees herself falling in the political pit. We haven’t heard from the makers whether they will show older girls or not. But, if we see them, this is the direction we can expect the plot to go in.
The cast of My Brilliant Friend Season 3
We will see cast changes in My Brilliant Friend Season 3. The main girls will have new and older faces. However, the supporting cast will stay the same. Anna Rita Vicolo will portray the role of Immacolata Greco. We will see Luca Gallone as Vittorio Greco, Imma Villa as Manuela Solara, Antonio Buonanno as Fernando Cerullo, and Valentina Acca as Nunzia Cerullo.
My Brilliant Friend shows the universal dynamic relationship between two people who consider each other more than themselves. This is what we hope to see more of in My Brilliant Friend Season 3.
