What/If Season 2, is a Netflix neo-noir social thriller anthology. It premiered on May 24, 2019. The first season had Renee Zellweger in it and that was the top-most reason why people wanted to watch it. Renee is an extraordinary actor who delivered the role of a venture capitalist with spice. What/If explores the effects of what happens when people start doing unacceptable things. In simple words, it tells us what happens when a good guy goes rogue. The first season tackled one morality tale and the makers want to give different source material for each season to show how everything accepts the consequential life.
Ben Travers of Indie Wire reviewed, “Mike Kelley’s anthology thriller is an addictive, tongue-in-cheek homage to 90s neo-noir. It is packed with preposterous melodrama and juicy twists.” Reading the critic reviews, we get curious to see when will we get What/If Season 2. So, let’s dive right into it.

Is What/If Season 2 on Netflix’s schedule?
Netflix has not spoken up about the plans for What/If Season 2. It has been more than a year since the first season’s premiere. Creator Mike Kelley in his interview with TV Line in June 2019, spoke about his ideas about the future seasons. He said, “Assuming we get future seasons, I want it to take place in a universe where the other story never existed. So, there would be no Anne Montgomery in Season 2.” Hence, he wanted the show to carry on as an anthology series.

However, Netflix has not renewed the show yet. There are both options, it can happen, and it may not. The IMDb rating is 6.3 and a meager 42% on Rotten Tomatoes. As per the audience’s reviews on Google reviews, it had too out of the world plot. However, the critics seemed to like the show. So, if Netflix renews the show this year, we can get What/IF Season 2 in 2022.
The Plot
Noting the words of the creator, he wants to set up a whole new world for a second season. So, conjecturing a plot based on the first season, when it ended with a perfect ending for its characters, is impossible. An anthology follows a separate plotline with a different cast. However, the genre and the standing of the first season indicates that the second season will give us further chills.
Mike Kelley told Variety about his intentions with the show and what he wants to bring out from it. He said, “Choose where your moral line is. If you want to break it, then suffer the consequences or live the lesson.” This is the mantra that Kelley wants to repeat in the second season. Hence, we can expect a lot of melodrama and moral extraction.
Who will you see in What/If Season 2?

What/If is supposed to form an anthology series. However, Kelley also said, “I hope to pull American Horror Story and bring back the same actors to play different parts in each season.” We can expect to see Jane Levy as Lisa, Blake Jenner as Sean, Keith Powers as Todd, John Clarence Stewart as Lionel, and Gabriel Mann as Gage. We can see a new cast altogether. It depends on what is in Kelley’s mind. Blake Jenner also commented on this and said, “Knowing Kelley, I think he’d have us play completely different characters, which I’ll be executed fir.”
