Puss in Boots 2, or Puss in Boots: Nine Lives and 40 Thieves, is an upcoming movie that was formerly canceled. The first movie took on the world with a storm. After all, how could it not? In January 2015, Puss in Boots 2 was removed from the schedule because of a change in DreamWorks Animation’s new policy of releasing two films a year. On November 6, 2018, Variety informed that Chris Meledandri took the role of executive producer of both Shrek 2 and Puss in Boots 2, with the original cast. In February 2019, Bob Persichetti, who was the head of the story of original Puss in Boots film, signed to direct the sequel. Latifa Ouaou, the first movie’s producer, will oversee the development of the movie.
We have not heard from the makers since 2019. If the movie was in production in 2019, we can clearly state that it is halted due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Once the schedules are back on track and the entertainment industry is the same as pre-COVID, the production will restart. Hence, assuming that the movie will not release until 2022 is not unrealistic.
