The live-action fantasy series Shadow And Bone is coming on Netflix. It takes inspiration from Leigh Bardugo’s book series under the same name. There are two overlapping stories, one being Shadow and Bone and the other one is Six Of Crows. The creator is Eric Heisserer and Netflix commissions the show back in January 2019. Heisserer writes for famous Oscar-nominated shows and it great to have him on board. Other directors include Jeremy Webb well known for The Umbrella Academy, Doctor Who, and more. David J. Shadow And Bone Release Date
There is no official announcement about the release date of the show just yet. However, last week Netflix announces that it is not going to air until late 2020. This is because the show just ends filming this February. It has been months since then and there are no post-production strategies. Moreover, due to the global coronavirus pandemic, everything is currently on hold. As of the latest updates, the first season of the show can either air by the end of 2020 or by 2021.
On January 10, Leigh Bardugo makes a tweet. He says,
“Shadow and bones and Six of Crows are coming on Netflix. It is real. The #grishaverse is about to come to life”.
Eric Heisserer confirms that there are going to eight episodes in the first season. He tweets,
“It is not just a mini-series, but a full one. There are going to be eight episodes in it”.
Cast
The cast for the show is spectacular. We haveJessie Mei Li playing Alina Starkov and Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker aka Dirty hands. We will also see Ben Barnes as General Kirigan aka The Darkling and Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev. Other cast includes Kit Young playing Jesper Fahey, Danielle Galligan playing Nina Zenik, and Amita Suman playing Inej Ghafa. Calahan Skogman as Matthias Helvar, Daisy Head as Genya Safin, and Sujaya Dasgupta as Zoya Nazyalensky are also there.
Shadow And Bone Plot
The story will revolve around two books of Grishaverse. It is set in a world split by massive perpetual darkness. These worlds houses unnatural creatures who feed on human flesh. The story involves Alina Starkov, she is a Russian citizen of Ravka. She is also a soldier who discovers power unexpectedly. This power can save her best friend and unite her country. A dangerous force comes after her when she tries to uncover the power. Amidst all this madness only General Kirigan wants to help.
