Violet Evergarden is based on a Japanese light novel series. Kana Akatsuki is the writer of the series, and Akiko Takase is the illustrator. Kyoto Animation published the first light novel on 25th December 2015. The 13 episode anime TV series adaption on the light novel, first aired in the year 2018 between January and April. The series got the Best Animation Award in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in the year 2019. A spin-off of the series released in Japan in the year 2019.
Another anime movie based on Violet Evergarden was also slated to release on 24th April 2020. The film got delayed to 18th September 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic.
The plot of The Series
Violet Evergarden revolves around Auto Memory Dolls. Auto Memory Dolls are ghostwriters for people who cannot write or who are looking for help to express their emotions in writing. They were initially employed by Dr. Orland to assist his blind wife in writing novels. They were later hired by other people who needed their services. In the present time, the story follows Violet Evergarden, who is an Auto Memory Doll. It shows her journey of reentering into the society post-war. She searches for her life’s purpose in order to understand the last words of her Major, I Love You.
Release Date of the Second Season in the Series
We are yet to have an official announcement on the making or release of the second season in series. Though the makers have assured of a second season, we are yet to receive an official update on the same.
Although a second anime movie on the series is slated to release on 18th September 2020.
Possible Plot of the Second Season
As noting is official yet, we can assume the protagonist of the second season will remain the same, Violet Evergarden. The story will continue with Violet’s journey as a ghostwriter and her purpose of finding the meaning of her job and life. There might be memories of Major Gilbert whose last words to Violet were I Love You. We can’t tell for sure what the plotline for the second season will be, but we can assure you that it will be as exciting as the first season.
