“A Discovery of Witches” the age of vampires is returning with the second season of the show. The fantasy drama is one of the most loved and was a hit on the screens. Produced by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner the show is based upon the All Souls novel series by Deborah Harkness and is loved by all the fantasy lovers. Directed by Farren Blackburn the show is a one-go treat for all the vampires’ lovers. If you have not yet seen its first season, then run and grab it. Because the second season is in the row.
The show made its debut almost two years ago, and now after a long dreadful wait, it is back with its second season.
According to the director of the show the filming of the second season wrapped up in late January 2020, and we are lucky enough that the filming process was completed before the corona virus rules and restriction came in. Though, the release of the second season has been scheduled in January 2021.
We know that the time gap looks really long but the production process and the editing process of the series were slowed down due to the corona virus pandemic. And, maybe that’s why the release date is late too. But, nothing is really away it just a few months to count in.
The second season is going to be based upon Deborah Harkness already released book named “Shadow of Night”. So we get the idea of the plotline. At the author’s website, the summary of the book is written something like this.
“Book Two of the All Souls Trilogy plunges Diana and Matthew into Elizabethan London, a world of spies and subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew’s old friends, the mysterious School of Night.”
It continues “The mission is to locate a witch to tutor Diana and to find traces of Ashmole 782, but as the net of Matthew’s past tightens around them they embark on a very different journey, one that takes them into the heart of the 1,500-year-old vampires’ shadowed history and secrets. For Matthew Clairmont time travel is no simple matter; nor is Diana’s search for the key to understanding her legacy.”
For now, as it looks from here that the new season is going to follow up the storyline fairly closely. Though there might be some divergences as it was in season one. In the first season, we saw a new subplot inside the main plot of Ysabeau joining forces with Diana’s witch aunts.
