While it is not a major hit to the world of filming, The Fast Nine which was supposed to be released on May 2020 has been shifted to April 2021. The spread of the novel COVID-19 affected all sectors of the industrial components including the filming sector. While reports of film schedules being moved ahead were common during the past month, the Fast 9 is the first major release of the year that had to be postponed in the wake of the spreading viral strain.
While the Fast and the Furious series never has to sweat to find a talking point, the shooting and production of the much-awaited Fast 9 was already delayed by a year as Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham took off to make their own spin-off titled “Hobbs and Shaw.” Moreover, all during the filming of F7 and F8, reports of “strong disagreements” between Diesel and Johnson circulated making the rounds of social media all around the world. These disagreements were said to be the main reason for delayed production in the new F9 movie.
While it is unclear whether these disagreements were also the reasons why Dwayne was not featured in the latest trailer for the Fast 9.
The statement to push the film’s release date emerged from the team’s Twitter account. “To our family and Fast fans everywhere,” the statement began. “We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga. That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film.” The decision to push the release date was made once it became “clear that it won’t be possible” for many fans around the world to see the film amid COVID-19 concerns.
As expected, film fans were thoroughly disappointed as the trailer showed the film in a much more vibrant color with the action sequences being turned up more than a notch. While the F9 won’t be the only film to push over its release date, it certainly was a blow to the hugely acclaimed series.
