Who didn’t love the chaotic doppelganger drama, this is why The Vampire Diaries Season 9 becomes a long-awaited season. Ever since the eighth installment ended, fans wanted to know everything about the characters’ journey after the phenomenal, magical finale. Kelly Lawler, USA Today wrote, “Either way, it’s the happy ending they’ve always wanted. Excuse us; we’ll be over in the corner, sobbing.” Amanda Steinmetz took to Rotten Tomatoes to review the eighth season. She said, “This season put the idea of redemption into focus, and it served the narrative to perfection.”
So, after the epic ending, people still wanted to know the future of The Vampire Diaries. TVD originally premiered in 2009 on The CW, and till today, it is one of the best supernatural dramas in TV history. It won 4 People’s Choice Awards and many Teen Choice Awards. The show takes place in the town of Mystic Falls in Virginia and tells the story of a teenager Elena Gilbert who feel in love with a vampire Stefan Salvatore and later with his brother Damon Salvatore. It takes us along their journey and makes the suspenseful and entertaining show for everyone.
Will there be a ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 9?
We hate to break it to you, but according to the creators Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, the eighth season was the final season as planned. Julie Plec has previously stated that she thinks the show has run its ordinary course, and the ending was as proposed, and the characters’ story was enacted as they wanted. She is currently busy The Vampire Diaries Spinoff ‘Legacies’ and ‘Roswell, New Mexico’. The CW canceled the show after the finale of the eighth season.
So, even if there are baseless rumors during the pandemic about the show’s renewal, there does not seem to be any truth in them. It would be best if you believed only news coming directly from the official team. So, until The CW or the creators speak up about the ninth season, fan-favorite ‘The Vampire Diaries’ won’t return.
The cast
Coming to the cast, if The Vampire Diaries Season 9 comes out, the main two actors won’t be seen. Nina Dobrev initially exited the show after the sixth season and came only for the eighth season’ finale. So, it’s not possible to see her. Ian Somerhalder has also previously said that he feels too grown up now to play a sensational vampire. He joked that he won’t ever play a vampire again. Apart from professional reasons, these two won’t act romantically in the show for personal reasons too.
So, if a new season happens, you won’t see other main characters, either like Kevin Williamson. So, if The Vampire Diaries Season 9 happen, but the cast is not the same, where would be the flavor? It will be equivalent to not getting any season. So, until the makers announce something substantial, we will suggest that you should accept that the show’s ended for good.
