What do come to your mind when you hear his name? Sushant? Is it the smiling face of him from the movies like Chhichhore, Dil Bechara, or Shuddh Desi Romance? Or it is the Dhoni look of his? Or is it the beard look from his movie Sonchiriya? the debut Manav look from the TV serial Pavitra Rishta? Well, it can be literally anything.
We saw him reaching the heights slowly and gradually with his charming smile and power-packed performances. Starting his career as Manav from a small TV serial Pavitra Rishta he made us smile with his movies like M.S. Dhoni. Were there any comparisons? Was there any lack of confidence in his acting? No, he was perfect with his every character and never failed to make us impressed.
Thousands of people entered the theatres as a fan of Dhoni when the movie “M.S. Dhoni: An Untold Story” was released but they all came out as fans of Sushant. That was his magic. Whatever he did he did it with perfection. No godfather, No backup, No status, No tons of money, he made himself on the basis of his talent. He survived in the gloomy vibes of Mumbai which were actually suffocating him. Fought everything just to reach to the heights and he did reach there.
He again proved that one doesn’t need a godfather to make a place in Bollywood where there is a neck cutting competition. When we look closely then he was among one of those actors who won our hearts not with big movies but with their irresistible talent and charm.
But things were not as good as they looked from here. We saw him on-screen smiling and achieving heights. But we didn’t have the hint of things that were going on off-screen with him. And, one day we woke up to the news that tore our heart apart. That made us shivers and gave us a terrible shock.
The day was 14th June 2020 when we were sitting under the sky which was gloomy and thick with the injustice. The news headlines flashed quoting Sushant’s demise and stating lines that said “He was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his home in Bandra, Mumbai”.
He was buried on 15th June 2020, at the Pawan Hans Crematorium, Vile Parle. We saw him for the last time in his movie Chhichhore and we learnt about life’s rules about success and failure. But, his sudden demise made all of us cry, surprised, and shocked. We were not ready for losing him at any cost. But, when it happened it shook us inside out.
What did exactly happen?
Nothing is clear for now speaking frankly we are in a mess and everything else too is. Talking as per the media and everything a week prior to his suicide Sushant had googled three subjects multiple times as per his browser history. They included Disha Salian, who was his former manager who had died about a week before him, news reports containing his own names, and information about mental illness. Connecting these points we can say that he was traumatised and in depression about something. But, as mentioned earlier we never know the truth.
One day before his death i.e. on 13th June 2020, in the night he made two phone calls one to actress and his “girlfriend” Rhea Chakraborty and another to actor Mahesh Shetty though none of the calls were answered. After that in morning, he searched about Bipolar Disorder, Painless death, and Schizophrenia as per his Google history. This is horrifying and doubtful at the same time; as none of us were aware about his mental health or anything related to that.
On that day two of Sushant’s friends were at his house. On the morning of 14th June, he had a talk with his sister on phone around 9 a.m. and after that, he had a glass of juice and tablets. And, around 11:30 a.m. his cook knocked several times at his door but got no response. His friends to knocked but there was no response and then they called one key-maker to open the door. Plus they also called Sushant’s sister and police. When they got inside they saw him hanging on the ceiling fan, but no suicide note was found on the spot.
It is being reported that he was coping with a mental illness and was consulting a psychiatrist too. Plus at the same time, some medical documents and anti-depressant pills were found at his home as reported by Times Now.
What about the Investigation?
The investigation was being carried out by Mumbai Police and they stated his death as a suicide. But, the tables were turned within no time. In the post-mortem report, the cause of death was “asphyxia due to hanging” but as claimed by Sushant’s family and other people this was a clear planned murder.
Many famous celebrities were questioned by the police. And, a case was filed against Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Salman Khan, Ekta Kapoor, and four others in the Patna High Court by a lawyer, Sudhir Kumar Ojha, the case states that Sushant was being denied opportunities due to nepotism, leading to his suicide, but the case was later dismissed on 8th July. It brought up the debate over nepotism.
His “girlfriend” Rhea Chakraborty, is being accused again and again for his death. She was several times questioned by the police of both Mumbai and Bihar. Though, she is claiming that she has no relation to his death.
Plus, on 19th August the Supreme Court gave permission to the CBI to handle the case and take control of the investigation. Though, for now, everything is unknown to us. What really happened none of us knows. Indian Media can’t be trusted totally as sometimes they do things only for increasing their TRP.
He left us very soon much before the time. For now, it will be wrong to blame anyone for his demise, because what happened in real is still unknown to us. Maybe it’s a murder, maybe it’s a suicide. Justice should prevail and that is the necessity.
