How did the recent season end?
The Rain Season 3 premiered on August 6, 2020, on Netflix altogether. The six episodes gave the ending for the post-apocalyptic psychological thriller. In The Rain Season 3, we saw Rasmus realizing that his virus cannot be destroyed and he hatches a plan to do something about it. However, Simone tries to stop him by falling from a dam to rescue him. But, she survives and finds herself in a place free of virus. Then, they find that the cure is located in a mysterious flower and its extraction has to be performed extremely meticulously.
Back at Apollon, Rasmus teams up with a nefarious leader Sten to form an alliance, Suicide Squad, of contaminated people like him. His thirst for power spirals out of control. Simone realizes that she can only stop her brother by killing him but this plan fails. However, after Rasmus’s girlfriend showed up, he had a change of heart and they both sacrifice themselves by feeding on the flower.
The final narration of Simone is moving. She said, “You’re not here anymore. But you’re everywhere. All you wanted was a purpose in life. You never found it. But you found it in death. We’re here thanks to you. And we’re rebuilding the world in your honor. You are forever my sweetheart. I love you.”
What seems likely for The Rain Season 4?
In 2019, The Rain’s official Twitter page tweeted that the third season will mark the show’s end.

However, as far as the duration of the show was concerned, it was originally planned to stream for two seasons. Lead star Tønnesen said, “We knew that we were supposed to make at least two. We didn’t know the third one when we started that it was going to be the last one. I think it was a really good idea to make three and call it a day there. So, it’s nice to know we closed it off with this season, moving on to other projects.”
The crew knew that there were only three seasons that will ever come out for the show. The show ended pretty well with Simone’s epic monologue. Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen also said, “We all were excited to do the last one. We weren’t really sad yet. We were just really excited we can do this and do this together. This is going to be the final one, let’s do our best.”
So, it’s safe to say that there weren’t any strings left behind and the official team officially gave us the last season of The Rain.
