Agents of Shield Season 7: Where in the world is Fitz?

Must Read

By the end of the sixth season, Simmons and Enoch arrived at a new Zephyr. It had the power to travel through time. So, without a second to waste, they leaped into the time stream to save the Chronicles from erasing S.H.I.E.L.D. from history. She was last seen with Fitz before Simmons arrived with a time machine. This interdimensional excursion aims to avert an alien attack in the future, with the Chronicles and their leader Sibyl attempting to scrub SHIELD out of life and claim Earth for their own. On the road, SHIELD ran into the Malick men, John Garrett, Afterlife, Koenig, and Agent Sousa.

Even in all this, Fitz has been the greatest surprise of the season since he’s missing. Simmons previously clarified that they have split to keep the squad safe from the Chronicles. Now, the new installment of the show, “As I’ve Always Been,” has viewers asking if the explanation for Fitz ‘s disappearance is a lot deeper than that.

Throughout the show, viewers discovered that Fitz and Simmons needed to be split from each other to protect the squad. Unless the wicked robotic aliens had their hands on one or the other, they ‘d be able to find out where the team is. Thus, they’d essentially put the whole task in danger.

Agents of SHIELD has shared two main bits of information. First, Elizabeth Henstridge (Simmon’s actress) says that Fitz will debut this season. And second, Simmons has done something awful in the unexplained period of time.

Perhaps the most logical inference to draw is that Simmons is somehow responsible for the death of Fitz. It is unthinkable that Simmons will deliberately kill her husband. In the process of their time travel attempts, Simmons likely took the gamble. This might’ve lead to Fitz’s death.

Yet there’s something about the idea that Fitz is “dead all along” that doesn’t sit right. Agents of SHIELD had already played this card in the previous season. Fitz died in one timeline, yet another version of himself was already alive due to the miracles of time travel. Fitz, failing again, will experience a drop in returns. Most specifically, the story of Fitz and Simmons has also focused on how much they’re willing to do for each other, whether it’s launching an intergalactic escape mission or wasting years in stasis.

In Agents of SHIELD season 6, the Chronicles also discovered that they could manipulate the devotion of FitzSimmons to each other for their sinister ends. A more apt motive for the loss of Fitz and the painful recollection of Simmons may be something that Simmons did not do to harm her husband but to shield him. Simmons may have put the whole world in jeopardy to keep her husband safe.
