What has happened till now

Virgin River’s first season left the plot on a rather dramatic note. Mel packed up her things intending to leave the quaint city permanently. The revelation that Charmaine is pregnant with his baby, something that makes Mel feel particularly insecure due to her infertility, strained her relationship with Jack as of late. She tells him in the series finale that being together will be too hard for her, and Jack’s declarations of love do not seem to change her mind.

Everything also looks grim for Paige, as her violent ex-husband hunts for her in the Virgin River. Shortly afterward, she goes missing, with signs pointing to a potential kidnapping.

At least until the show concluded, Hope and Doc were able to regain some peace, realizing that they do have feelings for each other, and decided to give their marriage another chance.
