Riverdale is an American mystery teen drama based on the characters by Archie Comics. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa develops it. The series follows the lives of a group of teenagers in a small town of Riverdale. The show explores the darkness behind the perfect lives of the inhabitants of this fictional town. It touches concepts like witchcraft, shamanism, murder, underage sexual activities, and deception. Riverdale premiered on January 26, 2017, and has since set a high bar for its performance. It has an IMDb rating of 7.5 and a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 86%.
When is Riverdale Season 5 set to release?
In January 2020, the CW renewed the season for a fifth edition. It will air in January 2021 on Wednesdays at 8 P.M. EST.

Riverdale ended its fourth season at only 19 episodes when it was originally a 22-episode season. This happened due to the Coronavirus outbreak. So, at the beginning of the fifth season, we will watch the remaining three episodes first and then dive into the time jump. Yes, the fifth season will be set five years into the future from season 4. Camila Mendes, who plays the role of Veronica Lodge on the show, confirmed it in a recent Live Kelly and Ryan Interview.
“We’ll be seeing these characters like five years from season four in their adult life, so now we’ll all be playing adults finally,” said Camila Mendes.
Apart from the time jump, in the fifth season, we will unfold the mystery of the videocassette that Betty and Jughead discovered of them. We will uncover the murder of a man disguised as Principal, Mr. Honey. In short, whatever season fourth’s finale left in haste, we will be savoring the details in the fifth season. What new plot and twists in the characters’ adult life will bring, that will get unfolded in this season.
According to a CW schedule’s synopsis, Betty/Jughead and Veronica/Archie will break up. So, maybe we will see a new love story between Betty and Archie.
Who will be in the cast?
Two characters won’t make their return to Riverdale Season 5 (they will only come for the remaining three episodes of the fourth season). One includes our favorite F.P.Jones (Crying in solitude!) The other character being Hermione Lodge (Wailing uncontrollably now!)
However, it’s not all bad news. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Variety that Nichols and Ulrich are always welcome back to Riverdale. (Crying stops!) The main characters to return in Riverdale season 5 are:
