On Saturday evening, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh announced that he will file a defamation suit against Param Bir Singh, the former Mumbai police commissioner, for accusing him of corruption.
Deshmukh, an NCP leader, had previously tweeted that Singh had ordered police officers to collect money from bars, restaurants, and other businesses.
Deshmukh also questioned why Singh had remained quiet for so long, claiming that the IPS officer, who was fired as city police commissioner on Wednesday, was only attempting to protect his own skin in the Sachin Waze case.
Parambir Singh, the former Commissioner of Police, has made false accusations in order to save himself, as the role of Sachin Waze in the Mukesh Ambani and Mansukh Hiren cases is becoming clearer as the investigation progresses, and threads are leading to Mr. Singh as well.
“The allegations made by Singh are false and I am filing a case of defamation against him,” Deshmukh from Maharashtra said.

“In the Mukesh Ambani case and the Mansukh Hiran death case, Sachin Waze’s involvement was established and the trail was to reach Param Bir Singh. It is due to this possibility that these allegations have been leveled,” Deshmukh said.
What is Happening In Maharashtra?
On Thursday, Deshmukh, in Maharashtra. had said he was transferred after some of his colleagues committed “serious and unforgivable mistakes”. It was just a day after Param Bir Singh was shunted out.
In his letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Singh claimed that Deshmukh told Waze that he had set a target of collecting Rs 100 crore per month, half of which would come from the city’s nearly 1,750 bars, restaurants, and similar establishments.
” If Sachin Waze told him about this in February, why was Singh quiet till now? Singh took the decision to reinstate Sachin Waze after 16 years (after he was suspended in Khwaja Yunus custodial death case),” Deshmukh said.
“Sensing trouble in the explosives case, Singh has leveled baseless allegations to blackmail the government. This is a conspiracy by Singh to mislead the probe into the explosives and Mansukh Hiran death cases,” the minister said.
He also told that the Maharashtra chief minister order an independent investigation into Singh’s charges.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Waze last week in connection with the recovery of an explosives-laden Scorpio near Mukesh Ambani’s house here last month.
The NIA has also taken over the investigation into Mansukh Hiran’s death, from whose custody the SUV was allegedly stolen.
