Participation And Its Importance Of India:
Committees that India will head and chair along with their importance is very crucial for you to know. Below is everything in this matter along with the answer to why this is important for India as well as the World.
- Tirumurti told that India considers the Taliban Sanctions Committee as its top priority. Heading and chairing this committee is going to help us to focus and fight against terrorists and their supporters. The terrorists who are threatening the people and their peace in Afganistan need to be punished. The committee is also known as the 1988 Sanctions Committee.
- The Libya Sanctions Committee implements the sanctions regime and is a very crucial subsidiary subject of the council. It includes a two-way arms embargo on Libya, a travel ban, an assets freeze, measures on illicit export of petroleum. A video message was released by Trimurti where he said, “We will be assuming the Chair of this Committee at a critical juncture when there is an international focus on Libya and on their peace process.”
- India is also going to chair the Counterterrorism Committee in 2022. This is the same year when the country will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of its independence from British rule. The committee was created in September of 2001 after the unfortunate terrorist attack of 9/11 in New York. India already in 2011-12 had chaired this committee in the Security Council. With regard to this, Tirumurti said, “The chairing of this Committee has a special resonance for country, which has not only been at the forefront of fighting terrorism, especially cross-border terrorism but has also been one of its biggest victims.”
India got the victory in the eighth term in an election last June by getting 184 out of 192 votes cast.
