WhatsApp: Begins testing multi-device support on web under Beta Program

Must Read

It looks like WhatsApp has finally decided to listen to their customer’s demands. Everyone out there is aware of WhatsApp web. It helps you to use the application on your laptop if your phone is connected to the internet. But there were two shortcomings in this:

  • You can use WhatsApp Web on just one device. If you have opened the application on your laptop but want to use it from your desktop later, you first have to log out from the previous device.
  • You can use the Web version of the application only when your phone is connected to the internet. Even if your laptop has an internet connection but your phone does not, you won’t be able to operate the application on your laptop.

According to reports, both of these complaints have been addressed by WhatsApp. They are testing the multi-device feature on the web. They will offer WhatsApp Web BETA to their users to get to know how well this new feature is performing on a smaller scale. The reports also suggest that this multi-device feature allows you to operate the application through four devices in total.

Another possibility to note is that it won’t be mandatory to have your phone connected to an internet connection. You will be able to use WhatsApp on your laptop or desktop even if your phone is not connected to the internet. The image above shows how you will see the new Beta version of the application tag on your device. You just have to go to the WhatsApp Web section on your phone where you will this option. All the features won’t be available from the start. You won’t be able to archive, mute, or delete chats from other devices. Also, you won’t be able to make any calls through your laptops and desktops.
