As we know that there is an intense trade dispute between the United States of America and China. This had s very important effect on semiconductor industries based in China. But due to these current circumstances, even the Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company(TSMC) suffered a huge loss due to the restrictions imposed by the United States. For this reason, it was forced to build up a fab factory on the United States soil.
Recently, Phoenix in Arizona and its city officials have approved the support of the government for the chip plant of TSMC(Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) worth $12 billion. It is termed a step in bringing high-tech chip manufacturing firm to the U.S. Pheonix’s city is going to provide around $200 million to build sewers, roads, and other infrastructure. Various reports are in the air and they tell and claim that at least one traffic light with a $500,000 is going to get included in the bill.
“We appreciate the continuous bipartisan support from the U.S. federal, state, and city governments. It gives TSMC and its supply chain partners the confidence this and other future investments will be successful,” stated TSMC’s officials.
About Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company :
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited is a Taiwanese multinational semiconductor contract manufacturing and design company. It is one of the largest companies in Taiwan, the world’s most valuable semiconductor company, and the world’s largest dedicated independent (pure-play) semiconductor foundry. It has its main operations as well as headquarters located in the Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Now, The United States wants its branches to be there in the country.
It is very obvious and clear to see and observe that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is a big chip supplier to some of the giant tech industries in the United States. The biggest giant Apple is also one of them. Due to this reason, it is very important for the United States as well as for TSMC to establish a manufacturing plant in the nation. The officials find it very lossful and disadvantageous to have major of its technologies and tools being manufactured outside the country.
Recently a representative of the Pheonix talked about this condition. He said, “It is remarkable that this came to fruition during a pandemic. The payoff is huge. TSMC will create 1,900 high-tech jobs and foster thousands more related jobs in the semiconductor supply chain ecosystem.”
