Joe Biden has become the 46th president of the United States defeating President Donald Trump. Biden’s supporters and voters narrowly pushed him over the finish line. Biden in his first address to the States put himself as a leader who will seek not to divide, but to unite a country that is reeling under a pandemic and a tattered economy.
In his first address to the country as a President-elect, Biden swore to become a President who will not see a red or a blue state but a United States. Biden further said that he has sought the office to restore the soul of America. And to make America respected around the world again and to unite everyone at home.
Biden’s victory was announced after more than three days of uncertainty as election officials sorted a surge of mail-in votes. These votes delayed the counting of the votes. Biden crossed the threshold of 270 Electoral College votes with his win in Pennsylvania. These were the votes that got him the presidency.
According to reports, Biden has clinched the states of Washington, Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, California, Virginia, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon. He also won in other states like Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, Vermont, and District of Columbia.
Joe Biden To Announce Task Force On The Coronavirus
In his first victory speech, Biden said that his first work will be to turn around the clock on the coronavirus pandemic in the United States. For this, he will announce a task force on the virus on Monday, 9th November 2020.
He said that he will spare no effort and leave no stones unturned to turn around the pandemic. According to him, this is a time to heal America. He said that they cannot repair the economy or restore their vitality, or relish life’s most precious moments like hugging a grandchild, birthdays, graduations, weddings, all the moments that matter most to everyone until they get this virus under control.
Biden speaking to the supporters of Donald Trump said that for all those people who voted for President Trump, he understands their disappointment with the results. But he urged them to give each other a chance. He added that it is time to put away the harsh rhetoric. It is time to lower the temperature between them, see and listen to each other again.
Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, also joined Biden on the stage after the announcement of the US election results.
