On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on a two-day tour to Gujarat to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. He inaugurated four new tourist attractions near the Statue of Unity at Kevadiya in Narmada district. These include Arogya Van, Ekta Mall, Children’s Nutrition Park, and Sardar Patel Zoological Park/Jungle Safari.
He is planning to launch 17 new projects, including a seaplane service, on Friday and Saturday. He arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday for his two-day visit. The official statement said that he would be staying at Kevadiya overnight.
Statue of Unity Gets Four New Attractions
First, he inaugurated an Arogya Van (Health Forest), spread over 17 acres with a wide range of medicinal plants. The sprawling garden has above five lakh plants of 380 species. The garden also highlights the importance of Yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation. It also has a ‘Yoga and Meditation’ garden, Souvenir Shop, and a cafeteria serving “Ayurveda foods”. He also visited the Digital Information Centre and an Indoor Plants Garden inside Arogya Van.
PM Modi then inaugurated Ekta Mall, a unique new store near the Statue of Unity. Ekta Mall is an air-conditioned complex spread over 35,000 square feet. It lodges 20 emporia from various states. Here tourists can buy handloom and handicraft products from different states.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani escorted the Prime Minister as they visited several emporia. He spent considerable time at the stalls selling traditional items from Jammu and Kashmir and the North-East. The processes involved in making them intrigued him and he showed keen interest in them.
After that, PM Modi inaugurated a Children’s Nutrition Park developed over 35,000 square meters. This is dubbed as the world’s first technology-driven theme park that aims at making children understand the importance of nutritious food. Moreover, the par has 47 attractions that will provide “infotainment” to children with the primary objective of “Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan.”
Lastly, PM Modi inaugurated Jungle Safari, a state-of-the-art Zoological Park spread across 375 acres and seven levels. This park will be home to over 1,100 indigenous and exotic birds and animals. There will be reportedly more than 100 animal species including tigers, lions, giraffes, zebras, and leopards.
The Safari also houses the world’s two largest Geodesic Dome Aviaries. PM Modi visited the aviaries and allowed parrots to sit on his arm. The Jungle Safari also has a Petting Zone. Here visitors can pet animals and touch them.
On Friday evening, he went on to inaugurate Sardar Sarovar Dam’s Dynamic Lightning. He also unveiled the website of Statue of Unity in all the UN official languages. At the Unity Glow Garden, PM Modi launched the Kevadia App.
