Even though the show has been surrounded by controversies since its debut, this has not deterred the audience from watching and absolutely loving the show. Sadly, “13 Reasons Why Season 5” has been canceled.

The American teen drama is based on a 2007 novel of the same name by Jay Asher. Brian Yorkey is the developer of the series. Popular American singer Selena Gomez is one of the executive producers of the series. The show debuted on 31st March 2017 on Netflix. The fourth and final season of the show premiered in June 2020.

Release Date Of “13 Reasons Why Season 5”

The show concluded with the fourth season, so it will not be returning for a fifth season. A streamer was also released on Twitter declaring the fourth season to be the final one.  The teaser showed the cast reading their final scenes. Check out the teaser released by the show here.

The decision to end the show was purely a creative one. The show ended with the cast’s graduation from high school. It was a very natural conclusion to the show.

The Plot Of The Show

The show revolves around a group of high school students of Liberty High. The school reels with the aftermath of the suicide of one of the students, Hannah Baker. Hannah left behind a box of tapes in which she talks about why she chooses to end her life. Each person responsible for her suicide was detailed on one side of the tape.

The show dealt with a  variety of issues that the youth of today faces. This includes suicide, sexual assault, racism, bullying, drug addiction, mental health, jock culture, abortion, school shooting, steroid use, homelessness, domestic violence, homophobia among others.

The show’s developer, Brian Yorkey feels that the show ended at the right time and it felt like a logical ending point with the graduation of the students. He was sure about the ending since the second season itself.
