India to host 3rd edition of 2+2 ministerial with the US on 27 October: MEA. As announced by the Ministry of External Affairs, US secretary of state Michael Pompeo and Defence secretary Mark T Esper will visit India on October 26 and 27. India will be represented by External Affairs S Jaishankar and Defence minister Rajnath Singh. The event is going to organize in New Delhi.
Before the third edition of 2+2 ministerial dialogue, two ministerial dialogue was conducted. Firstly, in New Delhi in September 2018. Secondly in Washington DC in 2019. There are different agendas in conducting this ministerial dialogue. In the first two ministerial dialogue, they decided to establish secure communication between the two, in every field. Secondly, the decision to strengthen the defence and security partnership. Thirdly, decided to be the partners in the Indo-Pacific and Beyond. Finally, decided to promote prosperity and people-to-people Ties.
Third Edition of 2+2 Ministerial with the US.
The 2+2 ministerial dialogue is going to take place between foreign and defence ministers of both countries. The 2+2 talks this time will result in signing Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement(BECA) which will result in to avail of US expert iseon geospatial intelligence, and enhancing the accuracy of weapons and automated hardware system used for military purposes.
This, 2+2 talk is very important. As this is taking place at a time when India entered the fifth month of conflict with China at the Line of Actual in Ladakh.
1st and 2nd Edition of 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue.
In the last 2+2 meeting, which was in December 2019 in Washington DC. Both countries have signed industrial scrutiny of military information agreement that simplified the transfer of high-level technology from the US to India. It is the second time, India to host 3rd edition of 2+2 ministerial dialogue.
