Fans have been eagerly waiting for “Animal Kingdom Season 5” ever since the concussion of the fourth season. The massive success of previous seasons got the series its renewal for a fifth installment.
The American drama television series is based on a 2010 Australian movie of the same name. Jonathan Lisco is the developer of the series. Liz Watts is the producer and executive producer along with David Michod. The series first aired on TNT on 14th June 2016.
Release Date Of “Animal Kingdom Season 5”
The series renewal for a fifth season came in July 2019. The filming was on schedule until the coronavirus pandemic hit. The creators stopped filming in March 2020. The filming and production of the fifth season resumed on 7th September 2020. But there is no announcement of the official date of release as of yet. The release is most likely to be in 2021. This season will also most likely comprise of 13 episodes like the previous seasons.
The Plot Of The Series
The series follows a teenaged 17-year-old boy. He moves in with his estranged relatives after the death of his mother. His relatives, the Codys are a criminal family clan that is governed by a matriarch, Smurf. The series revolves around the Cody family who associates with the underworld activities that become their day to day lives with time.
The plot for the fifth season is kept under wraps. But it will most likely portray the power struggles among the gang members. We might also see some deaths in the Cody family.

The cast of the series includes
- Ellen Barkin plays Janine “Smurf” Cody who is the tough matriarch of the family and J’s estranged grandmother. She is shot dead in the fourth season by J to fulfill her wishes of dying on her own terms. She was suffering from terminal cancer.
- Finn Cole as Joshua “J” Cody who is Smurf’s grandson and moves in with her and his uncles following the death of his mother.
- Scott Speedman as Barry “Baz” Blackwell. He is Smurf’s adopted son. He is also the leader in the Codys’ robberies
- Shawn Hatosy as Andrew “Pope” Cody who is the oldest son of the family. He is mentally disturbed and is suicidal.
