 Three fossils found in a lignite mine in southeastern Yunan Province, China. It is about 6.4 million years of age, and show monkeys existed in Asia as chimps. They are most likely the predecessors of a part of the cutting edge monkeys in the region, as indicated by a global group of specialists.
“This is critical that they are a part of the most established fossils of monkeys outside of Africa. said Nina G. Jablonski, Evan Pugh University Professor of Anthropology, Penn State. “It is near or may be the precursor of huge numbers of the living monkeys of East Asia. One of the intriguing things from the viewpoint of fossil science is that this monkey happens. at a similar spot and same time as antiquated primates in Asia.”

The lower jawbone and an upper bit of the leg bone show that the individual was female, as per the scientists. They propose that these monkeys were presumably “handymen” ready to explore in the trees and ashore. The teeth show they could eat a wide assortment of plants, leafy foods, while gorillas generally eat the organic product.
“What is captivating about this monkey, that we know from sub-atomic human studies. as different colobines (Old World monkeys), it could age cellulose,” said Jablonski. “It had a gut like that of dairy animals.
These monkeys are fruit eaters. They can eat low quality food high in cellulose and get adequate energy by ageing the food. And use the ensuing unsaturated fats then accessible from the microscopic organisms. We can see a comparable pathway in case of ruminant creatures like bovines, deer and goats.
