Ever since the conclusion of the third season, fans have been left wanting for more after the cancelation of “Designated Survivor Season 4”. It is a mystery as to why the series was not renewed after a successful and well-loved season 3.

The political thriller drama series debuted on 21st September 2016 on ABC network. The series aired on ABC for two seasons before the third season was premiered exclusively on Netflix for the global audience. David Guggenheim is the creator of the series. The show was much loved by the audience.

Release Date of “Designated Survivor Season 4”

Unfortunately, the season stands canceled after a much-loved third season. There have been no updates on the reasons for the cancelation. The third season premiered in June 2019 and there have been no updates since. The series’ cancelation came in July 2019.

But the third season did not have a conclusive ending. It left lots of unanswered doubts for the fans. This fact makes the fans believe in a possible sequel to the series. It is not unlikely for a canceled series to be picked up by a different network for renewal. This show was also picked up by Netflix after ABC canceled it after two seasons. But there has been no update about any other network picking up the season for a fourth season as of yet.

The Plot of the Series

The plot follows an American politician, Tom Kirkman. He is named as the designated survivor for the State of the Union address. He suddenly ascends from the position of U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to President of the United States after an explosion kills everyone ahead of him in the presidential line of succession.

The fourth season if ever made might follow the story of Kirkman’s opposition to his presidential position. It may focus on Kirkman’s morals and circumstances, and also the significant consequences of his actions. The series may also focus on Kirkman’s son Leo Kirkman.
