Farm Bills protest does not seem to simmer down. The Northern regions of India are deeply hurt at the government’s decision of making the Farm Bills an unwanted law. This happened even after the continuous protests of the farmers. However, the farmers along with Punjabi celebs and the politicians are hard at protesting. The voice should be heard, this is what they want. The farmers are grieving against the bills because of the increased slavery that the private corporations will engulf them in. Along with that, the farmers fear the loss of the MSP that they are getting now. The new bills are revolutionizing the sector which is solely on the upward trend. Well, can’t say the same anymore, right?
SAD leaders detained at a Farm Bills protest
SAD leaders and husband-wife duo, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsmirat Kaur Badal have been showing their support to the farmers as well. Harmsirat Kaur Badal also resigned from her post in the Union Cabinet. The Shiromani Akali Dal party also left the NDA as well as the BJP. From the external looks, the party is doing everything to show their support to the agricultural workers. In one procession from the Akal Takht in Amritsar, Sukhbir Singh Badal was actively participating. In another farm bills protest from Takht Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda, Harsmirat walked among the crowd.
However, the Chandigarh police detained them among other leaders as they approached the residence of the Punjab governor. This move intended to reach the person in power so that they personally realize the contempt within the public. Earlier, the police also water cannoned the crowd. They also charged the crowd with canes at the Chnadiigahr-Mullanpur and Chandigarh-Zorakpur borders. The heavily deployed police wanted to stop the approaching Akalis’ farm bills protest.
People want the bills rescinded
The Congress-led Punjab government also passed a statement that the state will not allow the bills to reach the operation stage. So, that is one huge step to act in accordance with the majority. Well, some people hear others, ha? The SAD has also been hell-bent to countdown the days of the bills. They called the bills “black laws” and “anti-farmers”. The separate protests they led all attempt to scream their dislike and opposition regarding the three bills.
Senior SAD leader Prakash Singh Badal also spoke on the methods the police used to stop the crowd. He told ANI, “We oppose the black laws and subsequently left the Ministry and even the alliance with BJP. We choose to stand with the farmers of Punjab. I assure them that SAD will fight for their rights and protect them, as well.”
