Line of Actual Control Row is on the peak of its tension for a few months. The Defence Ministers of China and India also met up during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Moscow. The rising tension started when the Chinese instigated a stand-off at Pangong Tso in May 2020. The reports tell that the Chinese army has been deliberately trying to attack the Indian army directly and passively. This does not serve the treaty signed on the LAC. This is where the Line of Actual Control Row started getting worse. Both countries are having constant discussions about the issue. China’s People’s Liberation Army launched a provocative military movement and ever since then, the countries have started standing at constant vigilance.
India warns China not to make unilateral decisions on Line of Actual Control Row
The solution to solve the matter of Line of Actual Control and to finally get over the Line of Actual Control Row is to stop making unilateral decisions. According to reports, China and its army has been acting on a whim and doing what they deem as right. After six days of a round of discussions and talks between the senior commander of India and China, this is what the foreign ministry told the other nation. The thing that is needed for the area is stability and promise to stand by the treaty. the Chinese Liberal Army provocated again on August 31 and this is not the first time.
This is why the Indian army and the Indian Foreign Ministry had to converse with China on the issue. The ministry reported, “The way ahead will be to refrain from attempting to unilaterally change the status quo, while the two sides continue their discussions to achieve complete disengagement in all friction areas. This is needed to ensure full restoration of peace and tranquility in the border areas.”
The process of disengagement
The process of disengagement simply means that the two armies stop fighting and do not engage in any heated activity. The armies withdraw military forces and serve peace. This is what the Indian army wants the Chinese to do. The ministry further said, “it requires redeployment of troops each side on respective sides of the Line of Actual Control.”
The countries do not want any army to “unilaterally change the situation in the groud”. They should not take any action which will further hamper the Line of Actual Control Row. Both the army’s commanders decided to go by the disengagement process to maintain law and order. The conversation took place between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his Chinese counterpart. Indian defense minister Rajnath Singh also talked about the upholding of the values of “sovereignty” and that both the countries shul maintain it in the border areas.
