Democratic presidential candidate and former vice-president of the United States Joe Biden recently said that Indian-Americans have powered the economic growth of the United States and helped forge cultural dynamism in the nation, with their hard work, passion, and entrepreneurship. He was addressing a national fundraiser conducted by Indian Americans. Joe Biden assured the members of this community and the major donors that as a president, he would surely listen and address their problems regarding H-1B visas and legal immigrants.
He said, “Think about what this community has done for our Nation, Entrepreneurs carrying out businesses over the country and around the world, innovators making the foundation for Silicon Valley and leading some of the most prominent companies in the world come from this community of Indian- Americans. This community helped create economic and cultural dynamism in the nation, we are a nation of immigrants”, Biden said.
Attacking President Trump, he said all the wrong actions on H-1B, injustice in racism, or the climate crisis are all common threats which you are facing. Biden further added, “Current president makes things worse, not better”. Biden said that he values the Indian American Diaspora so much because of the highly appreciable cultural, social, and family values of Indian Americans.
A senior policy adviser to the campaign, Seema Sadanandan, opened the fundraiser and asked former surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, to begin by talking about his relationship with Biden. The family was the basic theme of the chat with a few things about Indian food.
“Joe Biden is the kind of person I would really love to bring home to have dinner with my family,” Murthy said as his opening sentence, including that some homemade masala dosa would be served. “He is authentic, real, he is honest and true,” he said. Biden is a man who generally meets with his values which are generous and community-centered. “It is who he is,” Murthy said.
Asian American Pacific Islander Leadership Council and also National Finance Committee member of the campaign by Biden, Ajay Jain Bhutoria said, “On the world stage, he will restore the soul of America and its glorious position, will be the best friend of Indo-Americans and India, and will remove green card backlogs, sign new trade deals, streamline H1Bs, protect us against hate crimes, guard our places of worship, and implement climate change agreements,” Bhutoria said.
