If we look back to Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad’s prequel, we can see how Jimmy MacGill became Saul Goodman. So, what would a Robocop prequel series do without the presence of the actual Robocop? Well, that’s the question we all want an answer to. The original Robocop movie came in the year 1987 and was the creation of Ed Neumeier. The creator reveals:
“There’s the idea of doing things about business and law enforcement in the city of Detroit a minute-and-a-half in the future, it would be a way to do all sorts of stories about business and tech, Silicon Valley, corporations, snakes in suits, cops, all that. It’s a wonderfully rich tapestry.”

The Robocop prequel series will portray the rise of Omni Consumer Products and its Vice President Dick Jones. This is the concept of the series with no Robocop in it. Ed Neumeier adds “It has all the cool stuff about RoboCop except no RoboCop.” Fans are wondering what has the creator got in his mind with the series and what is he planning to do. The series is under development at MGM and people are waiting for more news and much cool stuff!
Well, the Robocop prequel series is still in development as MGM still needs to find the right partners to produce the pilot episode. Ed says that he has given this idea his to a TV series producer. His writer buddies Dave Parkin and Rob Gibbs have come up with this concept. Ed also states that,
“So, we’ve been talking about it and I think we have an interesting story. It’s fun to work with a younger version of the Dick Jones we meet in RoboCop. He’s an actualized corporate predator, but nobody necessarily starts out being the bad guy.”
He is kind of right and hence, we hope that we will be looking at this wonderful concept soon. The last time we saw Robocop was back in the movie of the same name in the year 2014. Thereafter, we haven’t seen the cop running the streets and saving people. The movie got fairly positive reviews but, we hope that the Robocop prequel series would do better than Joel Kinnaman’s Alex Murphy.
There is no news about the cast of the series as the plot of the series is yet to be developed. Hence, we can say that the show is very much in the initial phase and we can hope great success ahead.
