The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 got the green signal from the makers. The news of the renewal was announced on the show’s social media handle before the season 3 finale premiered.
The dystopian tragedy web series is based on a 1985 novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. The first three episodes of the show debuted on 26th April 2017 and the rest seven episodes released every Wednesday after that. The show premieres on Hulu. Bruce Miller is the creator of the show.
The show is quite popular and has won many awards and nominations. Some of the awards for the show include Primetime Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Award. The series is the first series on a streaming service to win an Emmy.
Release Date of “The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4”
The show’s renewal for a fourth run came in before the finale of season three in July 2019. The show will be airing sometime in 2021 though an official release date is yet to be announced. The renewal of the show was announced in their social media handle. Check out the announcement here.

The show had to shut down two weeks after the filming began because of the global pandemic. Actress Elisabeth Moss who plays June Osborne in the show said that although they all want to get back to work as they have families to support, no show is worth human lives. She further added that the writers are still writing the season as they mean to make the season bigger than the previous ones. She also said that she is Toronto since mid-January preparing for her role.
The Plot of the Show
The show showcases a dystopian world following the second American Civil War. In this totalitarian society, fertile women called handmaid are subjected to child-bearing slavery.
Show creator Bruce Miller said that the upcoming season will remain faithful to the previous concept of the show. His arc follows the arc of the women in the novel and tells her experiences in Gilead at the time and what it was like to be part of the dystopian world.
He further added that they are not going beyond the novel on which the show is based. They are simply going slow with the plots that were covered quickly in the novel.
